Monster Ceilidh Band

Monster Ceilidh Band Present: their ‘Electro-folk’ spectacular features the award winning talents of Accordionist Amy Thatcher and gifted young Teeside Violinist Grace Smith. Their powerful and uncompromising style has brought them to the attention of many of the major UK and European Festivals. The band are on a crusade to bring a modern and non-patronising approach to ceilidh music, the traditional music of the British Isles.

Their experimentation with electronic beats, ‘simply stunning’ (Songlines), has its roots in the traditional but produces something innovative, contemporary and dynamic.

D’n’B producer, The Touch, works with electronic experimentalist and Bassist, David de la Haye, to augment the compositions of Amy Thatcher, Grace Smith and Octave Mandolin player, Kieran Szifris.

The result is a crucible for smelting riffs, massive chord progressions, intense electronics, folk tunes and a wide variety of styles from simply some of the UK’s finest folk musicians.

The band released their 4th album ‘Mutation’ on Haystack records in 2017 and toured the UK and played many Summer festivals to promote this.

Summer 2019 will see the band perform at many festivals, including; Bearded Theory, Kendal Calling, Camp Bestival & Boomtown Fair
